The two-week 2007 SEGD Summer Workshop asked us to reimagine the dead space between two of Cleveland’ most-visited locations: The Quicken Loans Arena (home of the Cleveland Cavaliers) and Jacobs Field (now Progressive Field and home of the Cleveland Indians); and direct people to this location.
The ‘Market District’ and corresponding wayfinding system were created to give this space a new personality whether it is gameday or not.
This project was a collaboration with Carrie DeRamo, Jen Maxwell, Natalie Ata, Suzanne Levandowski & Ryan Unger
The design of the wayfinding system is derived from surrounding architectural elements mixed with our aesthetic of vintage market photos from the outdoor market that was formerly here.
The sign structure is based off of the steel lattice of stadium lights while the sign footers are based off of the sculptures at the end of the park.
